Description

Mill Pond House is a completely restored 1840s farmhouse adjacent to the famous Mill Pond in historic West Tisbury in Martha’s Vineyard. Remodeled by the present owner, an interior designer, it is beautifully appointed with antiques, charming accessories, and comfortable furnishings. An old pine floor and columns add to the ambience of the interior. A new heating and cooling system throughout has been introduced this year! The first floor has been converted to an open space plan with a cozy living room, a smart TV, fireplace, a fully equipped kitchen, and a charming dining area seating eight, kept always comfortable with air conditioning . Adjoining is a double bedroom with half-bath as well as a screened porch with a dining table, TV, seating area and beautiful view of the spacious deck, container plantings, and yard rolling down toward to the Mill Pond. The main house is 2,700 square feet. Upstairs there is a king, queen and twin bedrooms; two with a beautiful pond view, and Laundry facilities conveniently located in one of the two full bathrooms. Mini splits have recently been installed to provide central air conditioning THE SUMMER HOUSE An adjacent old barn converted to a studio with living space, a half-bath, bar sink and WiFi serves as a wonderful private space for work or play. Children will delight in a full size playhouse, toys and games. A fence around the front of the property secures small children. The back yard and vista provide a lovely pastoral setting often enhanced by brilliant sunsets. OUR HISTORIC REGION We are within walking distance to the quaint colonial town of West Tisbury dating from the 1600s where the Indians and colonists (including the son of Myles Standish, the Mayhews, and other settlers) came to grind their corn and exchange goods. Today it represents the first church, an amazing new library, Alley’s General Store, an art gallery, a twice weekly farmer’s market, and craft/antiques shows.
